Angikam – the body in expression. Angikam is the first word of the ABHINAYA DARPANA, a two thousand years old Sanskrit text on dance and drama. It tells us that the body is the beginning of all expression and that the expressive body extends from the microcosm to the macrocosm. ANGIKAM –Seminar in Kathak and Choreography celebrates innovation in Kathak by exploring the Kathak body.
The seminar provides a place to experiment in creative workshops under renowned mentors and opportunities to share your unique choreographic vision. At ANGIKAM 2016 we bring you workshops and networking opportunities designed to inspire, ignite and impassion you as professional dancers and creators. This year we feature one of the finest Kathak dancersand choreographers in the world, Nahid Siddiqui who will share her vision of Kathak
with us.
As Kathak is ‘katha’, so are its many stories - the story of rhythm, of movement, of emotion, and of thought. Join us and discover the roots of this ancient storytelling dance form. Take flight as we transform it together with new bodies in new spaces.
