ROSSLYN JACOB EDWARDS

Workshop: "Making Connections "
This session will focus of making professional connections with the dance community, getting your work noticed and presented through professional organizations and presenters in Ontario and across Canada. Ms. Edwards will discuss the important work of both Dance Ontario and DanceWorks.

Rosslyn Jacob Edwards
Rosslyn Jacob Edwards has played a significant role in the dance sector for over
25 years serving as General Manager for DanceWorks, presenter of Toronto's
longest running dance series, and with The Canadian Network of Dance
Presenters/CanDance. Rosslyn moved to Canada following a liberal arts
education and career in the public service and politics in the UK. Since 1969, she
has held management positions in the theatre, visual arts and dance sectors
including the SAW Gallery and Ottawa School of Art (Ottawa), Inner City Angels
and DanceWorks . She served on the board of COBA, the Collective Of Black
Artists, as an advisor to arts councils and independent dance artists, and
currently serves on the advisory committees of ArtsBuild Ontario and George
Brown Performing Arts.

BRAD TRENAMAN

WORKSHOP: "One, Two Three...Lights!"
A workshop to introduce Kathak dance choreographers to the fundamentals of lighting. Learn the basics and the technical terminology needed to ensure you can create the lighting looks you need.

Mr. Trenaman has established himself as one of Canada’s most versatile Lighting
Designers with over 150 designs for live theatre, dance, music, opera, corporate
events and television. He is currently President of the Northern Lights Dance
Theatre Foundation and also served two terms on the Board for Associated
Designers of Canada (ADC). He is a frequent contributor to Professional Lighting
and Production Magazine and has written over 30 features for the publication.
Mr. Trenaman has a long affiliation with Toronto’s South Asian community and is
known for his innovative lighting for several East Indian dance companies. In
2000 Mr. Trenaman was invited to lecture in Ahmedabad, India on his methods
and experience and, when a massive earthquake struck that region a year later,
he co-produced a fundraiser to raise funds for aid organizations in the area.

Miriam Adams, C.M.
Miriam Adams, Co-founder/Director of Dance Collection Danse, is a graduate of the National
Ballet School and former dancer with The National Ballet of Canada. She and her late husband,
principal dancer Lawrence Adams, went on to teach, choreograph and found 15 Dance
Laboratorium, Toronto’s first experimental dance venue. In 1983, they initiated the ENCORE!
ENCORE! reconstruction project, designed to rescue Canadian choreographic works created in
the 1940s and 1950s. This led to the founding of Dance Collection Danse, Canada’s national
dance archives and publishing house.
Miriam Adams has been a board member of the Toronto Arts Council, the Dance Umbrella of
Ontario amongst others and was named Adjunct Professor at York University in 2006. She
received a Dance in Canada Service Award; a Mayor’s Medal of Service. In 2009, she won the
Rita Davies and Margo Bindhardt Cultural Leadership Award. Miriam was appointed to the Order
of Canada in 2011.
